i have submitted the appeal, giving up my place in the DDP (Acc. & Computing) and remaining in my homecourse.

it wasn't an easy decision to make for me, because i had wanted very much to take it up. reading abt computer programming has made me very curious and interested to learn more. but reading the ddp has its own very stringent criteria, which i'm really not confident of meeting at this point.

it is to maintain a CAP of 4.0 and above for 2 consecutive semesters. upon not meeting this criteria, i will not be allowed to continue with the ddp.

a CAP of 4.0 is equiv of a 2nd Upper class honours! reading two degrees at e same time n having to achieve this is too heavy a responsibility. but having said that, i must admit that i still don't wish to give up the dd. i want to build a good, strong foundation in Acc in the first yr, and only after i've proven myself to, then will i want to take up one more deg.

so this is the goal i've set out for myself: achieve a CAP of 4.0 and above for my first yr! :D only after that will i truly be eligible for the dd. then i'll be able to pursue another deg confidently.

enough of my rambling abt uni admissions haha! there're a few other things on my mind. the first being to have Lasik for my eyes. very expensive, yes, but with my myopia getting worse by e day, it worth the expense. afterall, seeing are most important.

happy sunday! :D

yee hee!

haha happy the weekend's here. did 2.5 hrs overtime last night, until 8.15pm. still a lot of work left in e office haha, bt i try nt to think abt it, it'll hv to wait till mon haha.

abt 5 wks left till my last day there. still seems long haha, wish it could end sooner. since dec last yr, i think this temp. job has opened my eyes to more, n taught me much. :) bcos i am introverted, find it hard to look for n talk to strangers, but had to do tt bcos it was a job. hasn't changed me much though. still as introverted.

wonder hw e next four yrs will go! haha we'll all proly learn a lot more, n go on to different fields. still i worry abt nt doing well in uni, knwing every test counts, n consistency is key. no longer e end-of-yr final exam- o and a levels when e cert counts e most.

talking abt exams, alister's finished his exams. did well for chinese, gt over eighty per cent. math i din get to see, english nt very good, but not bad. full marks for hanyu pinyin! :) haha he used to hate me bcos i always force him to read 'hao peng you'. nw his mt gt better le haha.

Monday, May 18, 2009,9:53 PM

very paiseh today, bcos just over an hr ago alister's grandfather drove me bck home, n i kp giving wrong directns. *lian hong hong*

Grandfather: "Zhuan zhuo hai shi zhuan you?" (turn left or turn right?)
Me: "Zhuan... you... er.. zhuan zhuo!" (turn right..er no! turn left!)

apparently i mixed up my left n right in chinese. thinking right, den said 'zhuo'. in e end he went wrong directn, had to u-turn! aiyo.. dont even knw hw to go home haha.

then again, find it heart-warming to hv thm drive me home. i wish i too have grandparents living under a roof, talk and share our day. but one of mine passed away really early, saw another only in his last days battling cancer.

i think i must really begin to love n think of my family more.. to treasure our time together.

an ah ma asked me to buy tissues today, said her husband is sick and has to undergo dialysis. though i knew she may hv made it up, still bought it. perhaps im gullible to some, but whether its been true or not, to be able to help is a happy feeling.

then my mind wonders to think abt e less fortunate. there are many of thm here in sg, especially e older gen, but we dont often see, or care to see. i hope there'll be more love in this world. :)

new blogskin haha! thought e picture's sweet~ :)

work was alright on sat; almost every one was out so it was pretty quiet. e auntie sherry very cute, every sat she'll go to toilet at 1250, prepare to go home at 1. haha!

went to imm alone to buy a present for a friend. ended up with a pen holder u hv to build up from a jigsaw puzzle. is disney baby tigger!

thinking to have my last day of work end june, instead of mid-july. want some time to relax before uni begins.

Saturday, May 16, 2009,4:11 PM

happy saturday! :D had a half-day of wrk today, back nw. glad the weekend's here.

had quite a shock yesterday at wrk. received a call from a 72-yr-old mandarin- speaking lao ah peh, shouting n scolding me once i picked up e phone.

apparently, my colleague gt a student's number wrong, n sent sms reminders to e ah peh's phone.

then took away his number le, thought nvm, gd learning exp:D next time if get scolded will be btr prepared. today morning, he called again!

this time he apologised, said he shouldnt hv lost his temper, mei you feng du, hw i must accept his apology, bcos aft shouting at me tt afternoon, he couldn't sleep thinking abt it at night. never saw so strange a person before.

ahaha, tt's e only interesting thing tt happened this wk. :D hmm i wonder if e nightmare i had this morning before i woke up was bcos of tt. because in e dream, my father was shouting at me too..

haha i siao le. happy weekend!

accepted NUS's Accountancy & Computing. will appeal when its time. :)

enjoyed doing nothing today at home! haha because had a sore throat n fever. but after one day of walking around e house n having a morning nap, a lot better now.

don't really like doing the job i have now. though only temporary, still two more months left. but need to save up for uni, cannot say don't like then don't do. then i might as well be happier haaha..

jiayou to primary school girls n boys for ur mid-yr exam! :D

What does one learn in the Major in Mathematical Sciences at SPMS?
In the first two years, students read common core Courses in fundamental topics: calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, probability, scientific programming and mathematical exposition, to build a strong foundation that will give them maximum flexibility and choices in later years.

For students in the track in Statistics, they may read Courses from: applied statistics, mathematical statistics, operations research, probability, business, economics, computer science, etc.

didn't know what is mathematical sciences, above is a summary haha. :) ohh scary haha, read numbers till i become blind. its a four yr course as well, career prospects could be in banking, finance n insurance, as an actuary, financial analyst etc.

happy mothers' day! :D

yeah saturday's here! n happy vesak day!

didn't go for work on monday bcos of a cold. had temp-taking at e place where i work for 2 days, 2 times a day. good that now don't have to. relieved tt we're down to yellow alert; was worried it'd become like sars last time. :)

fell down when climbing up a bridge near my workplace. aiyo why am i always so clumsy? :D my big toe has to suffer for e 2nd time.. bled a bit, now supposed to pluck out e whole nail, but i'm cutting it away little by little haha.

e ddp i said i was considering, will be submitting an appeal come late may, for e single Acc deg. but now have to first accept their offer. read in their website. have received ntu's offer finally, to their school of physical n mathematical sciences. haha :)

have a great weekend!

Saturday, May 2, 2009,2:20 PM

thank u shima n nally! :)

haha if accept ddp then must be prepared to work twice as hard. looking at my sis's book on comp programming, c if i can understand. :) so far, okay.

feeling a bit sad, because a person i knew from work n cared about has left. back to his home in m'sia to take care of his family, won't be coming back anymore. couldn't kp myself from crying. i'm too much le la, little things also can be sad. he'll be alright, even happier than before, being with his loved ones. n yet i wish he could stay.

if i could use two simple words to describe him, it wld be generous, and caring. a person with so big a heart, and with so much love to give. :) always ready to offer his help, always concerned abt the people around him. though work may not be smooth-going, u could see an easy smile on his face any time.

hope that wherever he is, whatever he does, he'll be happy n safe. take care, Brandon!

shocked until i don't know what to say.. happy, yes of course. :) have wanted to study Acc, but. double deg??

had put the course as 1st in my double deg choices. nt very serious, because with my lousy grades , how can get into double deg? i think must be very little people chose that double deg combinatn.

what next? i think i know my intellectual limitatns. One, not clever. Two, not diligent. why did they offer me this, aft seeing tt my grades cannot make it? if i hadn't put e double deg choice, wld i still qualify for the single deg in Acc?

how to study 2 degs together, when one alone is rigorous enough?

still hope to give it a shot, knowing its prestigious, n if can cope with both well, will have good career prospects. am i ready for it?

received offer from NUS. :)

Congratulations! I am pleased to offer you admission in academic year 2009-10 for a course of study in:

Business Administration (Accountancy) & Computing

Your Home Course is:

Business Administration (Accountancy)

Admission to double degree programmes at NUS is particularly competitive and you are, indeed, among a select few who have been admitted to this very prestigious course. It is truly a double degree as this course combines two distinct, and yet complementary, disciplines offered by two different faculties.

(university rankings.....)

You have presented us with an impressive record of achievements. I am confident you will find the NUS experience enriching and rewarding, and one that will help you realise your full potential.

I look forward to welcoming you to the NUS family.
